Kids Sewing Club
Our specialized sewing club was developed especially for children age 8-15 who want to learn to sew. Kids love to belong to a club, and as club members they learn to sew, design fashion, and earn rewards for the projects they make to redeem for gift certificates. Many kids enter their projects into the 4-H and other competitions at the County and State Fair and win great ribbons!
Kids love learning to sew and find our sewing club to be lots of fun. Our after-school club allows your kids to learn at their own pace, and progress at their own level. We focus on each member's skill level and challenge them to help them learn and grow. They learn sewing machine and tool basics and and safety, measuring and cutting fabric, pressing techniques and how to handle an iron, and an introduction to pattern reading and design.
The club meets for 1 ½ hours on Thursday afternoons from 4 – 5:30 pm SHARP. There is an adult class following them so it is very important that you pick your child up promptly at 5:30PM.
The program runs continuously except during school breaks. Members sign up in 4 week increments. We then skip a week and start again. Continuing members just continue onward with their projects.
Call the shop today to reserve your child’s spot in this exciting club and teach them how to sew - a life skill! Seating is limited. The signup for the next 4 week session is included in the latest newsletter.
Thursdays for 4 weeks in a continuous program is considered a "session". Next 4 week session starting dates is shown in the latest newsletter.
Time: 4:00 - 5:30pm SHARP!
Teacher: Donna Sandidge
Fee: $12/class = $48 per session paid up front; plus fabric, pattern and supplies.
Supplies needed: List of supplies for first class will be provided at registration. Sewing machines and tools are all provided. You can sign your child up at any time during the year. Stop by and see some of the kids samples they made.
The program progresses in difficulty as the members are challenged to grow their skills. The club consists of a wide variety of clothing and craft projects. They are designed and geared to the members age and experience. Beginning members start at the Beginning Level and then progress to subsequent levels with more challenging and difficult techniques. As they progress they will learn fashion design techniques and methods.
For example, a club member may be taught how to add a ruffle to a skirt pattern, which completely changes the look of the pattern to a different and NEW fun design.
Projects include many dozens of fun fashions, including pants, shorts, capris, blouses, tops, skirt, jumpers, sweat pants, dresses, nightgowns, lounge ware and sweats. Ask for a description of what they do at each level when you register and we will give you more information.
