Sewing Classes

Beginning Sewing -   Teens & Adults

This class is designed for novices and those who want to return to sewing after a while (like maybe since Home Economics in sixth grade!) or want updates on the newest techniques. The focus is on basic techniques, sewing terms, fabric selection, reading a pattern, pressing techniques, seam finishes, notions, and operating a sewing machine.


You will work on one home decor and one garment project to develop your skills and then go on to a more advanced project as time permits. No prior sewing experience is necessary. 


Sewing machines are provided by the shop, however if you have one you may bring it provided it is in good working order and you have a manual. Our experience with this class has shown that the students enjoy it so much, they want to learn more. We will schedule the next level of sewing upon the close of this session for those who wish to continue. 




Thursday for 6 weeks: starting times are shown in the latest newsletter.  

Time: 5:30pm -7:30pm.

Learning to Sew for Baby - Nursery Series

Decorating the nursery can be very exciting.But you can’t find what you want in the stores! So DIY and learn to sew at the same time! Make nursery bedding and decor.


These classes are geared to very beginning sewers who are expecting or want to sew for their expectant friends or family. No sewing experience is necessary.


The focus will be on basic techniques, sewing terms, fabric selection, reading a pattern, pressing techniques, seam finishes, notions, and operating a sewing machine while making cute & adorable items for baby and the nursery.


We will start with a crib sheet for the nursery and a baby sling, Then we will continue with a variety of other baby items - Baby wipes container and diaper carrier, crib bumpers,diaper bag,diaper holder,baby bibs, wall hangings, baby quilt. nursing pillow, etc according to the request of students.

Home Decor Classes


Decorative Pillow Making Class


Pillows are the most versatile options in home interior decorating. Pillows for every room, for gifts, for the car, for the dog, and for the patio - made in plain cotton to luxurious fabrics such as brocades.


In this 3-week class you will learn to make 3 different types of pillows, one each week. We will cover knife edge, self welt, shirring, flanging, adding fringe, envelope back and zipper enclosures. You will get hands-on experience with pillow forms, welt, decorative cord, fringe and zippers.


These basics will get you well on your way to the wonderful world of pillow making. A basic knowledge of sewing and using a sewing machine is required.
